Original "Betty Boop" String Holder
This very collectible Original "Betty Boop" String Holder measures 9" high and 10" wide. It is made of chalk. Its paint is original and it is in very, very good condition - having no chips or cracks or repairs. But remember this is chalkware and it does show slight crazing due to age. It still has its original wire hanger on the back for hanging on the wall. This particular string holder is the largest of 3 known sizes. It is pictured and priced at $400+ on page 83 of the Second Edition of "Collectibles for the Kitchen, Bath & Beyond - A Pictorial Guide" (See additional photo). In 2005 it listed in the "Schroeder's Antiques Price Guide" on page 515 for $695.00 (See the additional photo). Three years later in the 2008 "Schroeder's Antiques Price Guide" it listed for $750.00 on page 519. It has sold in recent auctions for $517 and also sold at a Hake’s September auction for $1,910.00.
